The Senate yesterday directed its Committees on Petroleum Downstream and Gas to investigate the cause of a gas explosion at the Ladipo spare parts market in Lagos.

The upper chamber observed a minute’s silence in honour of those that died in the incident.

It resolved to write a condolence letter to the people and government of Lagos State on the deaths arising from the explosion.

The Senate observed a minute silence in honour of those that lost their lives in the Mushin inferno.

Adeola explained that Nigerians resident in all the densely populated areas where the explosions occurred lived in fear of not only losing property and investments but their lives.

The Senate directed the National Emergency Management Agency and the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development to immediately send relief materials to affected victims and settle medical bills of those hospitalised.
