National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has cancelled the 13th birthday colloquium in honour of victims of the Kaduna-Abuja train attacked by suspected terrorists on Monday evening.
Tinubu, who announced the cancellation a few minutes after the official kick-up of the event, described it as a national tragedy.
He said: “I am very sad about the situation and it calls for sober reflection,” before cancelling the event, which already attracted many important dignitaries.
He said he cannot be celebrating while the nation is mourning.
The APC presidential aspirant appealed for understanding from guests already seated and urged religious leaders to pray for the victims of the train attack.
